High Heel Race Washington DC October 28th, 2008 : WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY!!! Every year in DC, The High Heel Race happens just before Halloween. No one is too sure how it started, but with thousands of onlookers coming to watch, the city has had to devote police (and strangely politicians), crowd control and street closures for Drag Queens, Costume Cavalcades and fantasy creatures. From 6-9, 17th Street is shut down so that participators may walk up and down entertaining the crowd. Then, at 9 PM, the race is on! That lasts about 5 minutes! LOL People spend a whole year getting together their costumes. If you know any of these performers, please list their names in the comments below. Please note, there could be some disturbing images to some of my viewers! Remember, the world is BIG! Go watch one of my cooking shows instead! Also, it was SO windy, the last scene, my camera was up on a pole, and I was trapped with hundreds of people around me… it’s hard to get the perfect shot!
